How Painful is BPD
Before proceeding to our main topic I will give a little overview of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and then we will discuss how painful BPD is
Basically, it is a mental health condition that affects our thinking, and feeling, and people with BPD experience intense emotions. They have unstable relationships with others and it is challenging for them to regulate their feelings properly.
Intense Emotions
They feel intense emotions and these emotions can be changed quickly but their intensity will still be high
like they feel extremely angry and suddenly this emotion turns into deep sadness and then into strong anxiety and it happens without any reason. Basically, there are rapid and intense mood swings.
It is tough and challenging for them to get control of their emotions
Fear
They feel extremely scared of being abandoned or being left alone or rejected.
Relationships
people with BPD have difficulty managing their relationships with others. They have unstable relationships.
Impulsive and self-destructive behavior
Many individuals with a mental health condition like BPD engage in impulsive behavior like substance abuse, reckless driving, and gambling which can be harmful in terms of physical health and can face legal consequences in the future.
Self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and suicidal attempts are very common in persons with BPD
Challenges in daily life
As I told you they have difficulty regulating their emotions and managing relationships with others which can impact their performance at school and work as well.
BPD can affect our basic activities like maintaining hygiene, eating, and sleeping.
Conclusion
Living with BPD is very painful like fear of rejection or abundance, struggling with relationships as well as basic activities like eating, maintaining hygiene, and sleep therefore it becomes very important to get treatment as soon as possible.
